Adaptive Digital Resource Modeling as Service Provider and Consumer
International audienceThe increase in the production of heterogeneous and multi-source digital data over last years raises several issues regarding their management and use. Hence, users can face some difficulties in selecting the adequate digital resources and combining them to reach their objectives in a given activity. In this paper, we focus on digital resources design and management in order to enhance their retrieval, interoperability, adaptation and collaboration within an adaptive system. In practical terms, our work consists in a new method for digital resource design and management capable of enhancing their usability. It relies on RESTful web service-based methodology and platform thinking approach. We have implemented our method in an interactive and adaptive PLE to assist researchers in using and managing their digital resources, called PRISE for PeRsonal Interactive research Smart Environment. We have also undertaken some experiments with PRISE platform in our laboratory. The result showed that modeling digital resources with RESTful and platform thinking concept enhances digital resource usability in terms of retrieving, interoperability, adaptation and collaboration
Supporting Virtual Enterprise Systems Using Agent Coordination
International audienceOpen environments like the Internet or corporate intranets enable a large number of interested enterprises to access, filter, process, and present information on an as-needed basis. These environments support modern applications, such as virtual enterprises and inter-organizational workflow management systems, which involve a number of heterogeneous resources, services, and processes. However, any execution of a virtual enterprise system would yield to disjoining and error-prone behavior without appropriate techniques to coordinate the various business processes. This paper reports on the design and implementation of a flexible agent-based framework for supporting the coordination of virtual enterprises and workflow management systems. The paper also shows how an agent coordination infrastructure, which is explained by social constraints, can impact on the engineering of highly dynamic virtual enterprises and workflow management systems by presenting a simple case study
Trace-Based Decision Making in Interactive Application: Case of Tamagotchi systems
International audienceâ We present our exploratory work for situation preselecting in interactive applications, assuming that the application is an Interactive Adaptive System based on a sequence of contextualized "situations". Each situation confines activities and interactions related to a common context, resources and system actors. When one situation is completed, the system has to determine which is the best following one. We introduce in this paper a new preselecting method that identifies possible next situations among all available situations. We propose a strategy using NaĂŻve Bayes based on the analysis of the sets of available traces (the past of users). Combining all obtained results, we get a set of situations, called set of alternatives that can be used in any decision algorithm. We demonstrate our approach on a case study based on Tamagotchi game
Toward a Trace-Based PROMETHEE II Method to answer " What can teachers do? " in Online Distance Learning Applications
International audienceIn an Online Distance Learning (ODL) application, the learning sce- nario is a situation chaining from an initial systemâs state to one of the final states where courseâs criteria are met. A situation is a contextualized sequence of interactions. Teachers are successively involved in different situations: at the end of one situation, they choose the next one. An Intelligent Tutoring System will be used to support teachers in choosing an appropriate situation. In this pa- per, we show how to apply a decision method (PROMETHEE II) combining with the system traces analysis to automatically recommend to teachers one situation in order to execute during an e-Learning course. Experimental results of our ODL environment are presented to illustrate our method
Trace-Based Weighting Approach for Multiple Criteria Decision Making
International audienceDecision-making has evolved as an interesting research problem for decision community. We consider a decision problem that takes into account several criteria called Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) in an interactive application for adaptive execution. In this paper, we present a method for automatically weighting criteria generation based on users' traces. In our method, we suggest a process that contains all steps describing alternately what is necessary to prepare in order to weight all criteria. We propose a modified method using NaĂŻve Bayes network to exploit the traces (the past of users), there will be used as information for estimating the score of criteria. Experimental results are presented to illustrate a full process and an automatic generation of weighting criteria by a set of values
Application of Trace-Based Subjective Logic to User Preferences Modeling
International audienceA good way to help users make decisions in an interactive application consists in suggesting choices in accordance with their preferences. This decision problem faces challenging tasks, mainly in choosing a good solution that satisfies users and reaches the defined goal. Classical decision methods take into account the goal, but not all the obtained decisions can satisfy usersâ preferences. The originality of our explorative research is to associate Subjective Logic (SL) to systemâs traces (historical information) in order to model the user preferences that improve the decision process. Following JĂsang, SL provides a suitable framework for modeling and formally describing usersâ preferences. We propose to connect data collected in past executions, called traces, to the user intuition in order to support subjective reasoning. Based on this result, we can choose a reasonable decision according to usersâ preferences. A Tamagotchi system will be presented to validate our result
